NEUTRAL BALKANS – Mission Impossible
In small states in the Balkans vulgar, violent and rude US diplomacy, is opposed by silent, the level of non-existence, apathetic Russian diplomacy.
In the last week of October in Belgrade held a “Book Fair”. Within that held two days debate “Neutral Balkans – Basis of European security.”
Attended by 30 guests from Macedonia, Montenegro, Republika Srpska, Croatia, France, Germany, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine and hosts Serbia.
Most of the panelists felt that neutrality is the only way for countries such as Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia.
My view was that at this point “Neutral Balkans” is an impossible mission. Something that is unattainable.
Why?
Primarily because to have neutrality, it should be a balance between at least two different countries. Two, three or more different political forces, understandings of things – so then somebody can be neutral.
In the Balkans, it does not exist! Especially not in Montenegro, Macedonia and Bosnia (Republika Srpska).
In these countries, and I can claim it for my country Macedonia, there is only one side. Aggressive, vulgar, violent, rude and uncontrolled strong (and rich) policy, ie Embassy, of the United States. And, by contrast, there is nothing. Embassy of the Russian Federation practically does not exist. Yes, there’s ambassador, officers, building, diplomatic vehicles … But the embassy and the ambassador has not in the field. Apathetic, inactive, hidden, humble to diplomatic representatives of the “Russian bear”. So when there is only one side of the field, neutrality is impossible. Small states are left to themselves to resist American hegemony as opportunities allow. It is freshly countries with ethnic, organizational and financial problems. It states that the former socialist-communist regime have inherited the worst ?! Namely, inherited staff in administration and politicians whose “values” are opportunism, clientelisam… These are people who are accustomed to servitude or someone, be subservient slaves to a center of political power. For such Macedonian personnel that were formerly Belgrade and Moscow. Now they have changed the boss or the slave owners and serve Washington and Brussels.
Is such small states have a huge problem to be neutral when left alone in an open space with giant predators such as the United States reinforced by the EU and NATO. It’s okay to retold fairy tale of David and Goliath, but here we work for realpolitik.
So Macedonia participating in a “humane” NATO missions, which is basically a ruthless aggressor. Accept foreign ambassadors in the country to act as governor, as if we were some wild tribe of Africa. We “celebrate” Halovin, as our cultural heritage. Journalists are orgasmic when the American ambassador say a sentence. The words from Washington, Brussels and Berlin are quoted and interpreted as a divine commandment.
Thus, there is no neutrality, nor can there be.
I understand that the Russian Federation has the level of diplomacy that respects diplomatic codes prescribed rules, international law … It is understandable A diplomat should be intellectual, rational, human …
But it was once. World with the fall of the Berlin wall allowed only world power the United States, to become a monster with a thousand heads. Voracious beast only takes and destroyed.
On such aggression and destructiveness the only one response is bigger force. Washington evil does not understand anything else than force. This fact can be seen through the example in Syria in the last 2-3 weeks. Just a great course beating understands Washington, the Pentagon, Obama. When they are beaten, then become reasonable.
Neutral Balkans now is a fiction. While Russia does not appear real on the ground, small states will be easy to bite by monster predator coming from that side of the Atlantic.
